Royal Blind has over 200 years of history and heritage and takes real pride in the services it delivers to the community. These services include: The Royal Blind School for blind, visually impaired and multiply disabled children; The Scottish Braille Press that employs visually impaired and disabled workers; and Braeside House where the average age of the elderly residents is 90 years.

Our Vision-

To provide a range of services for those who are blind, visually impaired or who have multiple disabilities. These high quality services are designed to empower children and adults to achieve their full potential.

Programmes and Activities-

We provide a range of programmes and activities including:

Education
Nursery, primary and secondary education (both day and residential) in a caring, postive environment where every pupil is valued.

Nursing Care
Braeside House is our award winning home that provides first class services and facilities for older people who are blind or visually impaired, offering both residential and nursing care in purpose built premises.

Scottish Braille
We are a leading provider of hight quality alternative formats. We provid braille magazines and braille services in additional to producing documents in audio or large print.

Training
Our range of professional staff provide training and support services.

Preventing eye disease
We fund promising and high quality research to prevent and improve treatment for avoidable sight loss. We give grants for research into many different conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma and macular degeneration. The research we support now will help prevent eye disease and sight loss in the future.
